The Robins turned up to their longest trip of the season in high spirits and a nearly full squad to pick from.
The game started off with a strong Felixstowe side putting a lot of pressure on the Ely defence. Ely seemed a bit lost in the first 15 minutes and we took our time adjusting to the formation and generally gelling as a unit! We whethered the storm and midway through the first half we played some attractive football and had the better of the chances come half-time.
With a possitive team talk from Den and Al we came out in the second half and became more attacking. At the back we became more solid and Felixstowe didnt create any chances to note. After numerous chances and good attacking football from the Robins, the deadlock was broken in the 82nd minute when Johnson swung in a free-kick from the right hand side and it was met by a header from wazza who in turn put the ball in the top right hand corner. 0-1 Ely.
Four minutes after the re-start we were soon attacking again and this time it was the turn of Smith to send a cracking cross to the back stick and this time it was my fellow Leeds supporter Petitt to nod the ball home to double our advantage. 0-2 Ely
The game finished 0-2 to the Robins and i thought it was a very professional performance from the boys and a great 3 points for us as i can't see Felixstowe dropping many points, especially at home this season. |
